About Envirodisc

How does EnviroDisc remove dirt?

The ceramic beads inside the discs reduce the waters surface tension and cause the clusters of water molecules to beak down into smaller clusters and the oxygen in the water to ionize. As a result the water penetrates better and easier into the fabric than regular tap water to pull dirt from the fibers. At the same time ionized oxygen attaches itself to the dirt and lifts it from the fibers.

What about stains on shirt collars and greasy, oily or stubborn stains which most detergents can't remove?

For those types of stains pre-treat your load (spot spray, soak or pre-wash). You can also add a small amount (a quarter or less of the recommended amount) of detergent to the wash in addition to the EnviroDisc.

Why do I have to use all three discs at once?

The three discs are designed to work together, allowing for the right amount of contact between the ceramic beads inside the discs, water and air in the washing machine.

Are there any special requirements?

The discs work by coming into contact with water and air in the washing machine therefore should be allowed to float on top of the load in a top loader. In front loaders just simply put the discs in last.

Please note that with older washing machines you might find that when you start using the EnviroDisc the first few times the water in the drum will be dirtier than usual. This is due to dirt being released from inside the machine and will stop after a few uses.

Please remove the discs when drying the load in a dryer.

Does warmer water increase detergency?

The temperature of the water can be factor. The EnviroDisc works with cold water but its performance can be improved by using warmer water. However, we do not recommend water temperatures above 60°C in order to avoid damaging the discs.

What is the base for the two year usage?

The discs have been tested by repeating a washing process of 30 minutes for 700 times for the abrasion of ceramics and the durability of the float ring.

How long does EnviroDisc last?

The discs have been tested by repeated washing of 30 minutes for 700 times in top loaders and 500 times in front loader for abrasion of the ceramic beads and durability of the float rings. In an average household it would be about 2 years with a top loader and close to 1 1/2 years with a front loader. Or a good indicator is the size of the ceramic beads. When the beads have worn to about half of their original size it is time to retire the discs.

Why is using EnviroDisc more economical than detergent?

The average cost per wash for an ordinary detergent is 20 cents, with natural detergents it is 33 cents. EnviroDisc's cost per wash is 10 cents

Is there any data showing its detergency?

Yes, The discs were tested a public industrial testing facility in Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. The tests indicate that the discs have equal detergency to detergents by testing against four kinds of stains on fabric, which were Worcester sauce, red wine, soy sauce and coffee.

Is there any data for anti-bacterial testing?

The ceramic beads have been tested at Research Laboratory in Japan and the USA for their effectiveness in killing bacteria such as Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Staphylococcus Aureus, Escherichia Coli, Escherichia Coli O-157, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and MRSA.

How economical is it?

EnviroDisc can be used for up to 700 loads and if used by itself will eliminate the cost for detergents, reduce the use of water and cost for electricity by requiring only one rinse cycle and it will also reduce the cost of water treatment by reducing waste water from households.
